To New Yorkkkk *Alicia Keys voice*
This week I have ventured into Manhattan to explore and spend time with my friend for the week. The trip so far has been pretty relaxed as we are still limited to what we can do. With these limitations we have still found ways to enjoy ourselves. The days typically consist of walking around the city, shopping, ordering food, and watching TV.
Walking around the city has been fun even though most times it is leisurely. The change of scenery was the best escape for me after being cooped up in the house for weeks on end. It is interesting to see how a city that is known to be so lively in a state of calmness (with obvious reasons).
The shopping experience has changed a bit as some stores are not operating and are enforcing guidelines. Restaurants and other eateries have followed. Many restaurants here have clear, plastic dividers to separate customers from one another in hopes of creating a safer dining experience. I can say I do appreciate and enjoy the extra health measures that have developed with this pandemic. Basic sanitation should have been a priority long ago.
The TV show of the week has been a throwback season of Love Island. Love Island is a dating show that is filmed consescutively for one to two months. Those who are casted are typically in there 20s with the quest of finding love. In their journey, their relationships will be tested with the addition and subtraction of members at a wims notice. At the end of the Love Island journey, one couple will win $50,000. The season we are currently watching is Love Island Australia: Season 2. I would describe this season to be problematic and high speed. If I were to say anything else, I might just give away too much.
This trip was notable as my friend and I celebrated her 21st birthday and we were able to have our first legal drink. On her birthday, we glammed, jammed, and enjoyed what the night life had to offer (with safety and modifications). Cheers to that!
