Back To The Regularly Scheduled Program

It is that time again! Back to school means back to the regularly scheduled program.

Getting back into the swing of things can be somewhat challenging. However, that can easily be minimized by managing and organizing one’s schedules properly.

It is essential for me to use a planner for my daily activities during a school semester. I tend to buy planers that have motivational pages, that way I can see my goals written down which helps me push forward as the weeks go by.

Once I find a planner of my choice, I take the syllabi from my classes and write down the important dates in my planner. In the same manner, once I find the pattern of when my assignments are due, I like to schedule homework days for each class. By doings so, I am able to manage my school work my down time.

Next in the organizing process is to schedule in activities that are not school related. For example, gym days/time and work days. The scheduling is the hardest part as scheduling is more of a calculated process to get the job done. The only thing left is to stay accountable and push yourself to get things done. However, knowing that assignments have strict deadlines, I find this part to not be as challenging as managing one’s time.

A friendly reminder for those reading is to be patient with yourself as you try out these strategies. It will feel a bit tough in the beginning but after two weeks it will begin to feel like clockwork. Keep pushing!

A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true. – Greg Reid
